How it works
Converting a PNG (Portable Network Graphics) to SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) transforms a pixel-based image into a mathematical description of shapes and curves. While PNG stores color values for each individual pixel, SVG uses coordinates, paths, and fill colors to describe the image — allowing it to scale to any size without pixelation.
PNG is an excellent raster format with lossless compression and alpha transparency support. However, when you need to resize a graphic — for a billboard, a business card, or a responsive website — pixels become a limitation. SVG solves this by being resolution-independent: a 16×16 icon and a 1600×1600 poster use the same file with perfect sharpness at both sizes.
