How to Convert a PDF to JPG (or PNG) in High Quality

Why Convert a PDF to Images?

A PDF is perfect for documents, but not everywhere:

  • Social networks (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook) don't display PDFs as posts — you need images.
  • Presentations and documents: inserting a page of a PDF into PowerPoint, Google Slides or Canva is easier as an image.
  • Messaging apps: an image is displayed directly in the conversation, without opening a separate viewer.
  • Websites: a page preview as an image loads instantly.
  • Forms that only accept JPG or PNG files.

Convert a PDF to JPG in 3 Steps

The PDF to Image converter renders each page with PDF.js, directly in your browser. Your document is never uploaded.

PDF to Image

Export pages as JPG, PNG or WebP, at the resolution you want.

Try it for free
  1. Import your PDF: a thumbnail of every page appears.
  2. Select the pages you want (click to select or deselect) — all of them, or just a few.
  3. Choose the format and resolution, then download: one image per page, or all at once in a ZIP.

JPG, PNG or WebP?

FormatStrengthsBest for
JPGSmall filesPages with photos, scanned documents
PNGLossless: text and lines perfectly sharpText pages, diagrams, plans, tables
WebPSmallest files at good qualityWebsites

For a page that's mostly text, PNG gives the sharpest result; JPG may add slight halos around the letters. For a brochure full of photos, JPG is much lighter.

White background

Pages are rendered on a white background, as in a PDF viewer — even when the PDF has transparent areas. You get the same image as the one you see on screen.

Which Resolution to Choose?

The scale controls the size of the images:

ScaleApproximate width of an A4 pageUse
1x~600 pxThumbnail, quick preview, messaging
2x~1200 pxSocial media, presentations, high-density screens
3x~1800 pxPrinting, zooming on details, OCR

2x is the best default choice: sharp on modern screens, without producing huge files.

Use Cases

Posting a Carousel on LinkedIn or Instagram

Export your presentation pages at 2x in JPG, then resize them to the right format with the social media resizer if needed (1080 × 1350 for an Instagram portrait post).

Extracting the Text of a Scanned PDF

If the PDF is a scan, export the pages at 3x in PNG and run them through OCR to get editable text. If it's a text PDF, use PDF to Text directly — faster and more accurate.

Sending a Single Page

Need to share only page 4? Select it alone and download it as an image. If you want to keep it as a PDF instead, use the PDF splitter.

Conclusion

Converting a PDF to images makes your pages shareable everywhere: social networks, presentations, messages. Choose PNG for text, JPG for photos, 2x as the default resolution — and select only the pages you need. All in your browser, without uploading your document.
