Why extract the audio of a video?
To listen to a recorded lecture or interview without the screen, keep a concert or a song captured on your phone, send a voice message, create a ringtone, transcribe a meeting, or reuse a soundtrack in a podcast or an edit. An MP3 is ten to twenty times lighter than the video it comes from.
MP4 to MP3, MOV to MP3, WebM to MP3
The tool accepts the common video containers: MP4 (Android, most cameras), MOV (iPhone), MKV, WebM (screen recordings, browsers) and AVI. Whatever the input, you choose the output: MP3 for compatibility, M4A for Apple devices, WAV for editing, OGG for the web.
How the conversion works
FFmpeg, the reference media engine, runs inside your browser through WebAssembly. It reads the first audio track of the video and re-encodes it to the format you picked — or writes it as lossless PCM for WAV. Nothing goes through a server, which is why it also works for private videos.
