WebM: the format of web recordings
WebM is used by browser screen recorders, webcam and microphone recordings, many web meeting tools, and video exports from online editors. It plays fine in Chrome and Firefox, but Apple devices, car radios and many desktop apps can't read it.
Opus and Vorbis to MP3
The sound of a WebM is encoded with Opus (recent recordings) or Vorbis (older ones), two open codecs. The converter decodes it with FFmpeg and re-encodes it with the LAME MP3 encoder at the bitrate you choose, ignoring the video track.
Converted on your device
Screen and meeting recordings often contain private information. This converter never uploads them: everything happens in your browser, and the file only goes where you save it.
