These are the sizes to upload: platforms display images smaller, and sharper when they receive exactly this. Each network and each format links to its own row — copy that link to point straight at it. "To verify" marks a figure no official page confirms.

Upload size or display size?

Many guides list the size a platform displays an image at — Facebook's cover appears 820 × 312 on a computer, for example. Upload that, and the image is blown up on a high-density screen and looks soft. The sizes in this table are the ones to upload, as the platforms recommend them.

Uploading a much bigger image does not help either: the platform resizes it with its own settings, often blurring text. Exporting at exactly the recommended size keeps you in control of the sharpness.

Get the ratio right first

The ratio (4:5, 16:9, 9:16…) decides what is cropped; the pixel size only decides the sharpness. An image with the right ratio but a slightly different size is scaled cleanly; one with the wrong ratio loses its edges. The resizer crops to the ratio first and lets you choose what stays in the frame.

How we check

Each size comes from the platform's help pages when they state it, linked in the table with the date of the last check. A figure no official page confirms is marked "to verify". Spotted a change? Tell us and we update the table.
