How it works
JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) is the most widely used image format for photographs. It achieves small file sizes through lossy compression — discarding visual information the human eye is least likely to notice. This makes JPG excellent for sharing photos, but each time a JPG is re-saved, a small amount of additional detail is lost. Over multiple edit-save cycles, compression artifacts like banding and blockiness can accumulate.
Converting a JPG to PNG 'freezes' the image in its current state. PNG uses lossless compression, so no further quality degradation can occur no matter how many times the file is opened, edited, and re-saved. This makes JPG-to-PNG conversion essential for editing workflows, archival, and any situation where transparency support or pixel-level accuracy is required.
Quick & easyPrivacy & security
Your images are never uploaded to any server. The entire JPG-to-PNG conversion runs locally in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your photos — whether personal, medical, or business-related — never leave your device and are never stored on our infrastructure.
Because all processing is client-side, there is no server-imposed file size limit, no upload queue, and zero risk of data leaks. Once you close or refresh the page, all converted files are cleared from browser memory automatically.
