What "PNG to vector" means
A PNG is made of pixels: enlarge it and its edges turn blurry. Vectorizing traces those pixels into shapes described by curves, saved as an SVG file. The result can be scaled from a favicon to a banner without losing sharpness, and every shape can be recoloured or edited.
Ready for print, cutting and the web
SVG is the vector format every tool reads: Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity and Figma open it as editable shapes, cutting machines such as Cricut and Silhouette import it as cut lines, and browsers display it directly. Black & white mode gives one clean silhouette, which is what cutting and engraving need.
Which images vectorize well
Logos, icons, line art, stickers and flat illustrations give the cleanest results. Photos can be traced too, but they become a posterized, artistic version. Start from the largest PNG you have: more pixels give smoother curves.
